Comments for AQA:

  • This candidate attempts to outline their celebrity gossip magazine features a south Asian girl who is subverting stereotypes through her appearance and costume by appearing on a gossip magazine
  • There are some references to media language such as camera shots, stereotypes and colour schemes

Next steps:

  • Use Microsoft Word to check your spelling, punctuation and grammar as there are several grammatical errors in your statement
  • Remember that your front cover of your magazine can feature real celebrities and influencers – so consider what names you can reference in your cover lines
  • Write a brief explanation of what your 350-400 words may state, and you could link this to Propp, Todorov and Blumler and Katz

For my course work, id use feminine colours such as pink and green. I use those colour to target a female audience. There is a female actor on the front page with green and sparkly cultural dress. This targets a female audience which are south Asian as they are represented on the front page. My title "style rush" connotes it will show the audience that there are many option of styles. The models glam makeup suggests that she's enjoying and she cares about her presentation. This reinforces stereotypes that females should dress up nicely. Audience would read about this to know about real fashion. This is a form surveillance as they are learning more.

my double page spread is about a south Asian girl and she's influencing others to get intrigued by fashion and to also change society by showing people that are wearing Asian clothing can be represented by a culture and a ethnicity. This magazine shows us that my character has made a positive change to society by making her self stand out and showing others to represent them selves on any day, even on special occasions. This means she might influence people to start wearing clothes that constitute their religion  showing its not something to be ashamed off and they are independent in there cultural clothes. My magazine shows that whoever loves fashion is allowed to be substituted to it and can dress however they like.

In my magazine I wanted to capture to girls in my image are wearing cultural clothes that are mint green representing ethnic clothes.  The camera shot is taken as open landscape which shows all the surroundings around my models. The background of my impulsive image there is decorations such as flowers and a nice seating area. The latest trend being Asian clothing is my cover line, this will embrace there culture and influence more people to wear it more. This is informal and that its targeting younger/teen audiences. I mentioned celebrities that worn south Asian clothing and that visited south Asia this shows that everyone is opened to the culture and can wear there clothes without shame
